Save the date – April 1st for Bellview Grange Seed & Gardening Intensive
at the Bellview Grange

9 – 11 am: A paid class with professional seed grower Chris Hardy of Hardy Seeds.  $15 per class per person. Learn the basics of seed saving, how to selectively adapt plant varieties to your growing conditions and make your plants more resilient to pests and disease. Learn ways to keep seeds true to type, how to plan your garden for growing seeds, how to harvest and process them and how to provide proper storage. To sign up for the class please call (541)535-1854 or pay $15 on the morning of the class. Some scholarships are available.

10 am – 2 pm: Seed Savers are invited to a Seed sorting, packaging, and labeling by Rogue Seed Club, Sovereignty Seed Club, local Garden Clubs’ members and home seed savers to fill the Bellview Grange Seed Library Cabinet. Get free seeds to take home as a thank you!

George Stevens with Synergy Seed Exchange will demo seed cleaning with an ‘I-tech thresher and winnower (weather permitting). Seedsaving books, technical and visual resources, medicinal & culinary herbs, flowers, grains, oilseeds, 500 variety OP seedbank with grow out opportunities available.

Noon: Grange opens for the public, $5 Lunch available, seed sorting for the public continues with help from Seed Savers and experienced gardeners

1 – 2 pm: Seed Q & A with Mary Kelly of Rogue Seed Savers Club

2 – 4 pm: Outdoor demos and activities in our fenced vegetable garden and pollinator garden:

  • Pollinator Garden Spring Revival with Kristina LeFever (Pollinator Project Rogue Valley)
  • Setting up a beehive with Laura Ferguson (College of the Melissae Beekeeping Center),
  • Worm bins & soil, preparing and planting garden beds with Catie Faryl (Bellview Grange Sovereignty Seed Club).

Laura Bee, founder of local College of the Melissae: Center for Sacred Beekeeping, will be speaking about bee science, sacred wisdom and our indigenous relationship with Mother Nature & pollinators.  A discussion will follow, where Laura will offer answers to bee and beekeeping questions.
