Meeting Recap: April 15, 2013

Beverly Grange # 306 met on Monday, April 15th at the Hasting House, Beverly Farms.

Guests for the evening included numerous officers of the Massachusetts State Grange, neighboring Granges, and the officers of Heritage Pomona Grange. The presiding Master for the evening was Heritage Pomona Overseer and Master of Laurel Grange, Brother Peter Carter.

Before the meeting, an Italian Supper of penne, meatballs, garlic bread, Caesar salad and dessert was held.

The program by Heritage Pomona Lecturer Dorothy Carr featured a presentation and quiz on the Civil War. A moment of silence was held in memory of the victims of the Boston Marathon Bombing.

It was announced that Beverly Grange has obtained a Community Citizen Award from the National Grange and may be making a presentation at an upcoming meeting. The Grange also donated $30.00 to the National Grange Foundation Youth Leadership Fund as a prize for last meeting’s quiz competition.

The next meeting of Beverly Grange will be Monday, May 20th. The Worthy Chaplain will hold the annual Memorial Service in remembrance of our members who have passed to the great Grange above. Brother Russell Carr will be presenting the program for the evening.

Meeting Recap: March 18, 2013

Beverly Grange # 306 met on Monday, March 18th at the Hastings House, Beverly Farms.

Guests for the evening included Massachusetts State Grange Gatekeeper and Legislative Director and Master of Uxbridge, Christopher Szkutak, Gertrude Lacey, Member of the Veterans’ Memorial Committee, and Sister Diane Szkutak. The presiding Master for the evening was Brother Richard Lord.

Brother Szkutak presented an excellent program on State and National legislative issues, as well as an introduction to the National Grange Youth Department’s ‘Apathy Not Allowed’ campaign to promote electoral participation among young people. Beverly Master Brian Carr presented a sample of the Youth Department test.

The next meeting of Beverly Grange will be Monday, April 15th. There will be an Italian Supper at 6:00 PM, followed by a business meeting at 7:30 PM. Neighboring Granges have been invited to join in the festivities.
