Distinguished Grange Award
- For the fifth consecutive year, Holden Grange was named a Distinguished Grange at the 150th National Grange Convention in Washington, DC. The Distinguished Grange program honors Granges that fulfill their responsibilities to the National Grange, while excelling in the areas of membership, fund-raising, and service to their communities. During a special reception at the National Session, Holden Grange received a plaque to commemorate the occasion.
Annual Open House
The Grange’s 2016 Community Citizen Award was presented to Barbara Pearson in April which is designated as Grange Month. Barbara was recognized for volunteering many hours to Holden Senior Center and her church.
The program for the evening was presented by a local beekeeper, Barbara MacPhee, who spoke about the honeybee family and the roles of its members, the beehive, their products, and the beekeeper’s toolbox when entering the apiary.
In June, the W. Sumner & Howard L. Jordan Scholarship was presented to Jacquelyn Lomino who is attending Saint Joseph’s University in Philadephia, majoring in environmental science. The Scholarship is named for two brothers who were dairy farmers and were active in Holden Grange for many years. Anne Davis, daughter of Sumner Jordan, presented the award.
