Shelterhouse – Items for Survivors

Shelterhouse is an emergency shelter for women and children fleeing an abusive environment.  When survivors transition out of Shelterhouse’s emergency shelter & into their new safe homes, they often have to start from scratch stocking up household items and essentials.  Shelterhouse had a Wish List with Amazon; we chose to spend $500 on items.

Food Stand at the Midland County Fair

Our only fundraiser for the year is operating a food stand at the Midland County Fair.  We are open 6 days from 11 AM to 9 PM serving lunch & dinner every day.

Our building received an update!  We now have take out windows so people do not need to come into the building to order.

Our crews for nights (above) and days (below). We greatly appreciate all the non Grange members that work throughout the week!

Easter Baby Bonnets

Easter baby bonnets for newborns born at MyMichigan Health during Easter week.  The nurses were so excited when the bonnets were delivered to them.  Great big thank you to Helen Mudd for making these!

Toys for Tots

Often the 10yr old-16yr old group is the least to receive donations. Suggested toys for the older children include make up kits, hair dryers, watches, colognes, perfumes, sporting equipment, throws, sketchbooks, dartboards, & sunglasses. Items such as hygiene products – bath kits, grooming kits, & shaving kits are also desired.  Our grange spent over $200 on items for this age group.

Winter Coats

Ten winter coats and 15 hats were delivered to the 3 elementary schools of the Bullock Creek School District in late November.  Depending on how good the sale is determines how many coats we are able to purchase for the schools!

Dictionaries

146 dictionaries were delivered to six 3rd grade classes at Floyd Elementary & Pine River Elementary Schools.  The students are so excited to receive these books!  We have donated over 2,600 books in the 20 years of this project.
