Rural Mental Health Awareness

At our May 18 meeting, Lecturer Tina Keen (RN, BSN) presented on Rural Mental Health Awareness. Did you know that rural Americans experience higher rates of depression and suicide but are less likely to access mental healthcare services?

Members discussed the stigma around mental health (and mental health care) and how it directly impacts each of us. If stigma is part of the problem, then awareness is part of the solution!

National Grange has partnered with Rural Minds to address the current mental health emergency in rural America. You can view the taped webinars at https://www.ruralminds.org/rural-mental-health-connections-webinar – they are definitely worth your time!
