Buddy Meal Update

Started last year in March because we saw the need to check on some of our older members who are not necessarily online or have had accidents which have caused them to be in and out of the hospital during this weird and strange time. A group of between 5 to 9 Grange Members have gotten together every other month to create from donate items a hearty, not necessarily healthy (but we do try) meal. These meals give those we share them with a night off from cooking, a night to remember that we are thinking of them even if we don’t see them everyday. When we deliver the meals we add a Thinking of You card to ensure they know we are thinking of them. We feed roughly 25 to 30 people every other month. Most are older Grange members from Prairie Grange and other local Granges, some are people who we know are going through some trying times right now. Our first time we were able to use the Grange Hall on a Saturday because we were still not renting to the public yet, but now that we are back to renting the hall as much as possible to make up for not being able to rent it for over a year, we are limited to weekdays which means many of our members who would like to help are still working. We are looking into expanding the program to every month, possibly preparing the meal one evening and delivering the next with reheating instructions so more people could help distribute. Keep your eyes peeled on Facebook for more updates and details.

Prairie Grange in a new year

We got through all of the trials and tribulations of last year and we have started a new Grange year. We need to make sure to check on our older members as they are not necessarily online. I need to get everyone’s phone numbers and will be sending a membership list to everyone once I get those. Keep our older members in your thoughts and prayers, they need us more while they are stuck at home and even doctor’s appointments have become virtual. They are not used to it and need our help. Let’s make sure to check on them this upcoming year.

Ad for Boone County Fair Book

Spent the evening creating a new ad for the Boone County Fair Book that comes out each year in April. This ad is great advertising to everyone who gets a Fair Book for a number of reasons. They are already interested in learning more about the Fair and how it works because they are either going to exhibit or they know someone who will exhibit at our Fair. Our Fair is one of the best in the Midwest. I’m sure all the other Fair’s around us think that about themselves, but I truly feel that we are. Check out a preview of our Ad before the Fair Book for this year comes out!

Knifty Needles Night

March 7th brought out a group of Grangers from Prairie Grange and a couple of other Granges who met at the Administration Building from 6 until 9 p.m. enjoying each others company and creating beautiful projects to share at State Session. Not everyone crocheted or knitted, some inventoried their craft boxes to see what they need to reorder. Others come for the discussion. Looking forward to next month on April 4th.
