We made four blankets for Project Linus Topeka this year. A fun project and goes to a great cause!
Thirteen of our members attended the National Convention in Lincoln, Nebraska. Jamie Klenklen coordinated the Seventh Degree presentation, and several of our members had parts in that. Donna Bates served as host of the Idea Fair, with booths for vendors and displays from each state. Roger Bostwick, National Grange Priest Archon, and Melanie Bostwick were busy in the business meetings of the National Grange.
And, for the third year in a row, our Grange received the Distinguished Grange award!
At our October meeting we put together treat bags for our junior members. Some of them were able to be at the meeting. In November some of our members will be attending the National Grange Convention in Lincoln, Nebraska (see www.nationalgrange.org), and members will present dictionaries at six grade schools… encompassing all of Jefferson County.
For information on entries for state convention, go to the Kansas State Grange website: http://www.ks-grange.org/#!forms/ccbj
Also, hotel information has been posted to the state website.
Pleasant View Grange members honored two community members at their May meeting:
Jerie Tichenor of the Meriden-Ozawkie Library and Nancy Leek of the Ozawkie City Council for their work with the library, and the Ozawkie city sewer project, respectively.
Membership awards were presented to Amy Kramer, Betty Stiles and Kenny Stiles.
All received their Silver Star certificate and pin. Also at the meeting, Chaplain Mandy Bostwick gave a short remembrance ceremony for those Grangers that have gone before us.

Throughout November, our members distributed dictionaries at six schools in our county – which means that all third grade students in our county public schools each have a new dictionary of their own. They were all eager to take a peek in their books and will use them in the classroom.
