As Grange Lecturer, YOU may plan programs to interest your members and creating events that draw in
your community, or meet the needs of both members and non-members. Yours is the office that
“Entertains, Educates, Enlightens and Inspires” your members and neighborhood.
WITHIN your Grange: ask these members to help you plan events for the year:
Chaplain – plan a memorial program, honor the military, gather food items to help a family in need:
CFA (Chair of Women’s activities) – plan a dinner or recipe contest, chili- cook-off, barbecue, Grange picnic, etc.
Agricultural Chair – locate a guest speaker on agriculture, gardening, noxious weeds, non-chemical pest control methods, etc.
Youth – partner with local Scouts, 4-H, or FFA (Future Farmers of America) – plan Easter egg hunt, Christmas program, picnic, etc.
COMMUNITY Resources: Toastmasters, FFA, Eagle Scouts, and other groups are looking for an audience for their speeches and projects. Legislators want input from the community, but need you to set up a forum. Master Gardeners have the latest on gardens, insects, soil preparation. Museums will have lists of speakers, and history topics.
ADVERTISE! List your event in local newspapers. Post flyers IN your Grange hall weeks ahead. Ask each member to bring friends. ALWAYS serve refreshments. Make the hall look welcoming. Delegate a member to greet each arrival.
CONTESTS: Idaho State Grange has annual contests in the Lecturer’s Department: Photos, Art, Crafts, Talent, Writing. Rules and details were in the “Idaho Grange News”, 10/08, or contact the Idaho State Grange office. Increase awareness of Grange, by encouraging participation from members and friends.
