Edneyville Grange and Community Development Club
June 6, 2017
The meeting was held at the Edneyville Community Center with Wendy Henderson presiding. Following the Pledge of Allegiance, the invocation was given by Don Henderson. A delicious covered dish dinner was enjoyed by all.
The minutes of the May meeting were approved. May birthdays were celebrated.
A meal prepared by Grangers was delivered to the Billy Laughter family by Nancy and Scott. Other deaths include Gladys Barnwell and Ryan Pace.
Chris Anderson, Deputy Director of the Western Justice Academy presented the program explaining the services of the academy. He introduced Trevor Allen, Director of the NC Justice Academies and Dana Philips Deputy Director of the East Campus. Dana presented information about the crime lab which will be in operation soon. This 36,000 foot facility cost 16 million and will open as soon as final testing is completed. There will be 40 employees.
New business: Bucky Stepp and Riley Corn will attend Grange Camp. Don moved and Linda seconded a motion to pay of the camp fee of $275. Approved.
Touch a Truck will be on June 24 and help is needed for this as well as trucks. The Junior Grange will sell drinks and the Lions Club will sell hot dogs.
The Ice Cream Social is planned for August 26.
The Summer Food Program will be held at the center from June 19 until August 4. The Grange will do Fridays. Three people are needed for each day.
Recommendations for Grange awards are being confirmed.
Peggy Stepp pointed out that the Grange signs need spruced up. Don moved that the Grange pay for materials needed by the Junior Grange to refurbish the sign across from Turf Mountain. Peggy also announced that Marsha Lyda asked if the Grange would sponsor dinner for band members prion to one of the 5 home games. It was decided to request more information regarding this.
This June meeting was in honor of Father’s Day and Wendy distributed Pops for fathers with “Thanks for being a great Pop”.
The next ECCA meeting is on September 12 at 7 pm.
The July Grange meeting will be on July 11 since the first Tuesday is on July 4. The closing prayer was provided by Don Henderson.
