Edneyville Grange and Community Development Club
May 2, 2017
The meeting was held at the Edneyville Community Center with Wendy Henderson presiding. Following the Pledge of Allegiance, the invocation was given by Don Henderson. A delicious covered dish dinner was enjoyed by all.
The minutes of the April meeting were approved.
May birthdays were celebrated.
Donna Brackett, principal of Edneyville Elementary School, provided the program. She gave information about the plans for a new school with ground breaking scheduled for March, 2018. The architect’s plans will be available in July. She described activities for students, special programs and field trips. There were 6 parent nights held during the year. Opportunities for volunteers include listening to a child read, keeping up with a child to encourage them, sorting the clothing closet, and helping with testing.
Dates for the Community Development Council were listed. Crab Creek hosted a meeting on April 11. Upper Hickory Nut Gorge will be the site of the August 8 meeting and Edneyville is host for the November 14 meeting which will include the awards presentations.
Refreshments were provided for Troop 605 by Scott Pryor and Jane. Desserts are needed for the BBQ on Saturday. It rained very hard for Plant Swap day. There was a great turnout for the Search and Rescue event. The books collected will go to Safelight.
Tablecloths were bought in red, blue and lime green. The long white one will be used for the food table.
Nominations for Grange Awards need to be made.
The July meeting will be on July 11 since the first Tuesday is on July 4. The June meeting will be on June 6.
The closing prayer was provided by Don Henderson.
Respectfully,
Liz Enloe
