Junior Grange

Junior Grange is an branch of the Grange, where children ages 5 to 14 years old, learn community service, crafts, and friendships. To join the Junior Grange it cost $5 a year!

Meetings: 1st & 3rd Tuesday of the Month at the Beach Community Grange from 6:45pm to 8:00pm

Activities: Learn friendship, leadership skills, speech giving, and much more. Fund raisers throughout the year to assist with our community service projects. (Note: Community Service projects in the past, we have sent get well cards to sick children, donated toys to Ask Foundation for kids in hospital with Cancer.)

May 22ndDancing Badge & Music Badge

  • Learn a traditional Mexican dance (only 5 minutes or less) and it must be performed in front of a Junior Adult (that is not your parent).
  • Learn and memorize a minimum of 3 songs from the Junior Grange Songbook. Teach the song to other Juniors at a JG event.

 June 19th – Ocean Discover Badge & Endangered Species Badge

  • Name each ocean, and each ocean that touches America. Gather pictures of sea life that only live in the oceans that touch American shores. Write a story about you if you had to live in one of those oceans.
  • Learn what an endangered species is. Create a list of endangered animals, plants, or trees. Create an idea of how you can help the endangered species. And find out what is already being done to help.

July 17th – Historical Figure Badge & Bill of Rights Badge

  • Select a person influential in American history. Go to your local library to research about that person. Create a picture collage with informational tidbits and ask your teacher or librarian to display your project. (A picture of your collage with your teacher or librarian and yourself is all that is required to turn in.)
  • Make a poster (8×11 piece of paper or bigger) of the first 10 amendments. Consider why the amendments are important. If you could create your own amendment what would it be and add this amendment to your poster.

 

Updates:

Juniors have had success with Raffling special cakes at special events at the Grange, so this will be a normal raffle at special bingo events. Also, Juniors have created a fundraiser to help raise funds for the National Junior Grange and The Beach Community Junior Grange fund to continue to help with community service projects.
